London Blackmarket

London Blackmarket's original peasant punk/soul music first saw light 18 months ago in Rainham, Greater London.
Nicholas Long (singer / songwriter), came across Dave Holland(Bass) and Nicholas Gibbs(guitar) nearly two years ago at The White Room Studios which they all used. After commitment issues with another drummer at the time they become beat less until a friend, Brad Verlander, offered to fill in whilst the band looked for a replacement… Verlander swiftly made the position his own. The band have been gigging and working at getting a catalogue of songs together to play live to show where their true strength lies. Staying well clear of any one trick ponies, any gimmicks or props, they make live shows intense and energetic to captivate an audience.
Influences range from early Springsteen and the E Street band, The Strokes, Doves to the The Hives although the Motown feel sits deep within the music. London Blackmarket have been gigging steadily both locally and nationally throughout the year. They played an early slot at T in The Park this year and have supported Stereophonics on their UK warm up shows throughout 2008.
They release their first single “Check Mate” on Fiction Records in January 2009, with an album to follow later in the year.
